An irrigation method is used in which water is supplied directly to the root zone of the plants being grown in regulated portions using drip dispensers (drip kits). This system allows for significant savings in water and other resources (fertilizers, labor costs, energy, and pipelines). Drip irrigation also provides a number of other advantages (earlier harvest, prevention of soil erosion, reduced likelihood of spreading diseases and weeds).
